Can - Halleluwah
Halleluwah - Can Live 1971
CAN - Halleluwah at the Cologne Sporthalle, 1972.
Did everybody see this snowman standing in the wind alone?
When mother did that, pick his head and you're feeling sleepy at
It's my recording, stitch remain but I record in his head
Knowing that too big mouth, oh, ice can flow away, no one knows
Oh, shadow coming out while I call the story, storey that
Oh, sample all about spinning that all the time
My powers strike me out, did I slip this thing on their life?
And my god buying out, oh, it gets me inside
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Did you see the day? Every fever may I search in
We can find now harder steam, change his kind, fly away
Oh, they're all alone there, let me in
Oh, she asked me the first day for my name
So she wasn't going where I was singing
Mushroom head, oh yeah, paperhouse, I went day, first the game
It wasn't a game after this
Moon shadow coming out while I call the story, storey that
Oh, it's all about spinning that all the time
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Searching for my brother
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Ash you and the hills are blue and she's so
Got my fever, why do I go? Got my fever, why do I go?
Got your soles into your shoes
Got my fever, why do I go? Got my fever, why do I go?
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
"Halleluhwah" is a song by the krautrock band Can, on their 1971 album Tago Mago.
The track, which originally took up a whole side of long-playing vinyl, lasts for 18 minutes and 28 seconds and is characteristic of the band's sound around 1971 in that it features a vast array of improvised guitars and keyboards, tape editing, and the rhythm section "pounding out a monster trance/funk beat".
The drum beat for which the song is famous is repeated almost continuously by Jaki Liebezeit, with only minor variations, throughout the course of the 18-minute jam. In one line of the song, Damo Suzuki's lyrics mention all the songs from side one of Tago Mago: "mushroom head, oh yeah, paper house."
A much shorter version of the song also appeared as the B-side to the band's 1971 single "Turtles Have Short Legs", and a different shortened version later saw release on Can's compilation album Cannibalism. The original U.K. pressing of Tago Mago misprinted the song's title as "Hallelujah" both on the LP's center label and on the back flap of the album jacket.
On vocalist Damo Suzuki's 1998 solo album V.E.R.N.I.S.S.A.G.E, a version of this song is performed along with "Mushroom", also from Tago Mago. His band at the time featured Jaki Liebezeit on drums.
